These natural factors are now replaced by electrical lights and air conditioners. It’s about time that we go back to the basics, looking at the damage we’ve done to the Mother Earth. Encourage students to keep their surroundings clean by offering them treats
The school authorities can organize school clean-up days to encourage students to understand the importance of cleanliness. Ask the students to bring the trash lying around on the premises. Offer the treats to those who clean up the most trash. This way, children will inculcate the habit of cleanliness right from a young age.
Reduce dependence on paper and introduce eco-friendly tools
Every paper you use makes a tree fall somewhere. Keep this in mind while using a sheet of paper injudiciously. Instead, install a smart classroom and switch to smart tablets for education purpose. This way you can reduce the dependence on paper. Even examinations can be carried out on tablets to avoid paper wastage. Some schools have policies of enrolling students from the neighbourhood only. This is done to rule out school buses. School buses also consume a lot of fuel every day, thus increasing a school’s carbon footprint. Students living nearby should be encouraged to walk to school. Instead of a conventional school, build a ‘green school’
A green school is a lot different than conventional schools. It is not a new phenomenon anymore. The green schools are installed with more eco-friendly and sustainable tools to reduce carbon footprints. They encourage and teach students how to conserve energy and water. Disallow disposable water bottles to make your school eco-friendly
Bar students and teachers from using single-use water bottles. Encourage them to bring their water bottles from their homes or issue them one in the school itself. Install water taps that supply drinking water all the time.
