Digital Lectern or Digital Podium provided by many popular brands including Globus are an easy-to-use system that combines the power of a traditional lectern along with an interactive touch screen, microphone, lock and key mechanism, sturdy body, visual presenter (document camera), etc. They are used in India for classes, lectures, seminars, events in schools, colleges and organizations.

With everything being technologically advanced, the education sector has also taken steps forward to match the pace. The movement is bringing positive results for the organisations who have switched the modern way of education. As a part of Government of India’s initiative Digital India, many government-run schools have incorporated digital means to revamp the traditional classrooms. In this modern phase of education, students are no longer obliged to stick to their textbooks to obtain knowledge. They are using the digital tools to their best to get education. This holistic education involves using an engaging medium like a smartboard to enable the children learn better and retain the information for longer. Even the science is affirmative that our mind tends to grasp information in a better way when it’s conveyed in a pictorial or video form.

Gone are the days when only a student’s academics were important for his success. These days, more than grades, a person’s communication skills are analyzed by the recruiters. Not only in employment, but good communication skills will also help a person in every domain of their life. If a person is good with his words, he can talk anyone into doing what he wants. If you look around yourself, you will find many people with extraordinary academic records but will lag behind others when it comes to communication skills. Most of them blame on their academic methods for their fear of public speaking. Hence, it’s high time that we make the necessary amendment in modern teaching methods and prepare the students at a young age to face the world outside.

Earlier this year, the government recommended a couple of measures to revolutionize the Indian education system. Among them, one was the comeback of the 4-year Undergraduate Programme under which all the undergraduate degrees were of four year tenure. The proposal was scrapped by a former HRD minister when it was first introduced as FYUP for undergraduate degrees in Delhi University. In the NEP draft, the panel recommended an overhaul of teachers to brief and prepare them about the 4-year undergraduate degrees.

With the advent of technology, everything right from our eating habits to our shopping style became technically-advanced. In this digitally revolutionised era, how can education be left behind. The concept of smart classroom solution began a couple of decades ago with introduction of projector and computers in education. Most of the high-end educational institutions began investing in smart digital tools like projectors, computers, tablets, iPad for their students. They even moved their content online so that students can access them whenever they require.

Digital Language Lab is not a new phenomenon. It started after the Second World War in America, for the language training to the students and working population. For the starters, a Digital Language Lab is a fully-equipped laboratory for language training. It can be used to train the students in any languages including Hindi, English, French, German, Sanskrit, Persian, etc. It involves the utilization of digital resources like audio-visual content and exercises to make students fluent in any foreign language. While the traditional methods were used in the educational institutes in the country to train the students in a language, it has been observed that Digital Language Labs have far better outputs. Learning on a conventional blackboard can be tedious and students might lose interest from the lessons. To rule out this boredom and retain the information for long, Digital Language Lab came into the picture.

Textbooks have enjoyed the status of being an indispensable part of every classroom. And here, we are talking about the physical textbooks that are made up of paper and ink. While the physical textbooks have dominated the Indian education scenario for decades, they are gradually being replaced by the digital textbooks that are devoid of any physical form.
